Short Courses

Using Automated Sensitivity Analysis Tool for Open Pit Deposits

HALF DAY AM – October 1 | 08:00 – 12:00

Short Course Abstract:
This ½ day course is intended for resource geologists, managers, and open pit engineers working on projects where there is need to compute multiple optimized pits or carry out sensitivity analysis studies. Such studies help mining practitioners identify potential risks and opportunities related to variable or uncertain commodity prices, costs, recoveries, pit slopes, etc.

Participants will get hands on experience using commercially available pit optimization software and using multiple cores will simultaneously optimize, report, and visualize pits by varying one or more parameters.

Short Course Objectives:
Familiarize participants with the practice of carrying out sensitivity analysis studies for open pit projects and gain hands on experience.

Target Audience:
Open Pit Engineers, Resource Geologists, and Managers.

Facilitators:

Maryam Sahafzadeh, SRK Consulting

Maryam Sahafzadeh, PEng Senior Mining Engineer – Maryam has over 15 years of experience in open pit mine planning and design. Maryam’s extensive knowledge includes pit optimization, strategic mine planning, mine design, and production scheduling. She has worked on projects ranging from the conceptual level to feasibility level studies across the globe. Maryam’s commodity experience includes coal, zinc, lead, gold, copper, iron ore, lithium, platinum, palladium, and polymetal.
